About Language Fiction

Our Mission

Language Fiction is dedicated to helping people learn languages through engaging, AI-generated stories. We believe that reading interesting content at your level is one of the best ways to improve your language skills.

Our stories are carefully crafted by AI models from OpenAI to match your reading level and interests, making language learning both effective and enjoyable.

How It Works

Each story is generated with a specific CEFR language level in mind, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (advanced). This ensures you're always reading content that's challenging enough to help you improve, but not so difficult that it becomes frustrating.

You can choose from various genres including adventure, mystery, science fiction, and more, allowing you to practice your target language while reading about topics that interest you.

CEFR Language Levels

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international standard for describing language ability. It uses a six-point scale, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (mastery), with each level split into two sub-levels for more precise placement.

Level Name Description
A1.1 Absolute beginner Can greet people and introduce themselves.
A1.2 Early beginner Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and interact in a basic way with help.
A2.1 Lower elementary Can handle simple interactions and understand frequently used expressions.
A2.2 Higher elementary Can describe routine matters and communicate in short, simple exchanges.
B1.1 Lower intermediate Can deal with straightforward situations and describe experiences, opinions, and plans.
B1.2 Upper intermediate Can manage more complex language in familiar contexts and discuss goals, events, and ambitions.
B2.1 Threshold level Can understand and discuss complex topics in a specific field or area of interest.
B2.2 Advanced intermediate Can interact fluently and spontaneously with native speakers on a range of topics.
C1.1 Basic advanced Can express ideas fluently, structure arguments, and adapt language for different contexts.
C1.2 Proficient advanced Can understand implicit meaning and use language flexibly for professional or academic purposes.
C2.1 Near-native proficiency Can produce well-structured, fluent text on complex subjects.
C2.2 Full proficiency Can effortlessly understand and express nuance with precision, akin to native-level fluency.

Language Fiction is free to use! All stories in our library are open to anyone interested in learning a new language. We believe that language learning resources should be accessible to everyone.

While we are working on additional features that may require a subscription to help offset the cost of AI models, access to our existing story library will always remain free. Our goal is to maintain a balance between accessibility and sustainability.
