The Friendly Fox and the Curious Crow A1.1

A fable story by Lila Woods

Once upon a time, in a big green forest, there lived a friendly fox. His name was Felix. Felix was very smart and loved to meet new friends. One sunny day, he walked around the forest. He greeted the trees, the flowers, and the little animals. "Hello, everyone!" he said with a big smile.

As Felix walked, he saw a crow sitting on a branch. The crow was black and shiny. Her name was Clara. She looked sad. Felix wanted to help her. He said, "Hello, Clara! Why do you look sad?"

Clara looked down and said, "Hello, Felix. I am sad because I am hungry. I want to eat something delicious, but I cannot find food."

Felix thought for a moment. He wanted to help Clara. "I can help you find food!" he said. "Let’s look together!"

Clara felt happy. "Thank you, Felix!" she said. They started to walk through the forest together.

Felix and Clara walked and walked. They saw many things. First, they found some berries. "Look, Clara!" said Felix. "These berries are red and sweet!" Clara tried the berries. She smiled and said, "These are very good! But I want something more!"

So, they continued to look. Next, they found a big tree with nuts. "These nuts are tasty!" said Felix. Clara tried a nut. She liked it but still wanted more. "I want something different!" she said.

Felix thought again. "Let’s go to the river! Maybe we can find fish there!" Clara agreed, and they walked to the river.

At the river, they looked for fish. Felix said, "I see a fish!" But the fish was very fast. It swam away. Clara laughed and said, "You are a good friend, Felix! But I am still hungry."

Felix did not want Clara to be sad. Suddenly, he had an idea. "Clara, I know where to find food! Let’s go to the farmer’s house!" Clara was surprised. "A farmer? Are you sure?" she asked.

"Yes! The farmer has a big garden!" said Felix. Clara said, "Okay, let’s go!" They ran to the farmer’s house.

When they arrived, they saw the garden. It was full of vegetables. There were carrots, tomatoes, and lettuce. It looked very tasty!

Felix said, "We can eat some vegetables!" Clara was happy. "Yes! Let’s eat!" But then they saw the farmer coming. Clara was scared. "Oh no! The farmer will see us!"

Felix thought quickly. "Do not worry, Clara! Let’s hide behind the big pumpkin!" They ran and hid behind the pumpkin.

The farmer walked into the garden. He looked around but did not see Felix and Clara. He picked some tomatoes and went back to his house.

Felix said, "Now we can eat!" They came out from behind the pumpkin. They took some tomatoes and carrots. Clara was very happy. "These are delicious! Thank you, Felix!"

Felix smiled. "You are welcome, Clara! I am glad you are happy!" They ate and ate. They had a fun time.

After eating, Clara said, "I want to give you something, Felix. You helped me find food. You are my good friend!"

Felix smiled and said, "You do not have to give me anything. I like helping my friends!" Clara said, "But I want to share something with you!"

Clara flew up to a tree. She found a shiny piece of paper. It was very pretty. She brought it back to Felix. "Here is a gift for you!" she said. Felix looked at the shiny paper. It was beautiful!

"Thank you, Clara!" said Felix. "This is a nice gift!" Clara smiled and said, "Now we are friends forever!"

Felix and Clara continued to play in the forest. They laughed, shared stories, and found more food together. They were very happy to have each other as friends.

From that day on, Felix the fox and Clara the crow were always together. They helped each other and shared many adventures. They showed everyone in the forest that friendship is very important.

And so, Felix and Clara lived happily in the big green forest, always ready to greet new friends and share their adventures.
