The Great Pie Contest B1.2

A comedy story by Emma Baker

Once upon a time in a small town called Bakeville, there was a very famous pie contest every year. People from all over would come to see who made the best pie. This year, the contest was extra special because the prize was a golden rolling pin, and everyone wanted to win it.

In Bakeville, there lived two friends, Tom and Jerry. Tom was known for his delicious fruit pies, and Jerry was famous for his chocolate pies. They both wanted to win the golden rolling pin, but they also wanted to support each other. "Let's make a deal," said Tom one day. "If I help you with your chocolate pie, will you help me with my fruit pie?" Jerry agreed happily, and they shook hands.

As the contest day approached, they spent every afternoon in the kitchen. Tom showed Jerry how to make a perfect crust, and Jerry taught Tom how to make a rich chocolate filling. They laughed and sang songs while they baked, and even their neighbors enjoyed the sweet smells coming from their house.

The day of the contest finally arrived. The sun was shining, and the Bakeville square was filled with people. There were colorful banners, stalls selling snacks, and children playing games. Tom and Jerry set up their table with their pies proudly displayed. Tom's fruit pie was bright and colorful, filled with apples, cherries, and blueberries. Jerry's chocolate pie looked smooth and shiny, topped with whipped cream.

As the contest began, the judges walked around, tasting the pies. Tom was nervous as he watched them take a bite of his fruit pie. But then, he saw their faces light up with joy. "This is delicious!" one judge exclaimed. Tom felt relieved and happy.

Next, it was Jerry's turn. The judges tasted his chocolate pie, and once again, their faces showed delight. "This is the best chocolate pie we have ever had!" another judge said. Jerry beamed with pride.

After all the pies were tasted, it was time for the results. The head judge took the microphone and announced, "This year, we have a tie! The winners are… Tom and Jerry!" The crowd erupted with cheers. Tom and Jerry couldn’t believe it! They jumped up and down, hugging each other tightly.

As they received their golden rolling pin, they started to think about what they would do with it. "Maybe we can start a pie shop together!" Tom suggested. Jerry nodded in agreement. "Yes! We can sell both fruit and chocolate pies!" They were excited about their new idea.

After the contest, they decided to practice even more in the kitchen. They experimented with new flavors, like banana cream and blueberry lemon. Their friends loved tasting the different pies, and soon, everyone in Bakeville wanted to try them.

Months later, Tom and Jerry opened their pie shop called 'BFF Pies,' which stood for 'Best Friends Forever Pies.' The shop was a huge success. People came from far and wide to taste the amazing pies made by the two friends. They even had a special pie of the month, where they would try new recipes based on the seasons.

One day, a famous food critic visited their shop. He tasted their pies and wrote a wonderful review in the newspaper. The next day, there was a line outside the door! Tom and Jerry were thrilled. They worked harder than ever and even hired some helpers to keep up with the demand.

As time passed, Tom and Jerry continued to win awards for their pies, but they always remembered the pie contest that started it all. They often returned to the contest, not as competitors but as judges, sharing their love for pies with everyone in Bakeville. And every year, they would laugh and remember how their friendship and their pies brought the town together.

In the end, Tom and Jerry didn’t just win a golden rolling pin; they built a dream together and made Bakeville a sweeter place for everyone. And they lived happily, baking pies and sharing smiles for many years to come.
